In 1931 Ann McKinney's great uncle Ernest Chamberlain started a family story "The First Hundred years. He got some of his information from his great uncle Cornelius Chamberlain. Cornelius was still sharp as ever including his hearing. He was a postmaster and the reason for leaving his job was he died at 100 in 1938. This is just a little background for my information. At the time Ernest wrote his story the Gamblin family Bible was in the possession of Charles Gamblin of Bloomfield Station Kings County NB Canada. From the Bible he found that George Hall and his wife Sarah came from Stockwith Nottingham County England and settled in English Settlement, that their daughter Ann was born October 20th 1803and that she married John Gamblin April 14 1834. Also that there was a list of their children giving dates of births, deaths etc. Ann's younger sister Sarah married William Chamberlain.

Later on in his story he states that Ann Hall daughter of George and Sarah had come to Canada before her family and that she had married Robert Sargeson. This was confusing as her 1st husband was William Sargeson. Since the story was typed up by someone else I believe it may of stated William Sargeson son of Robert Sargeson and the William part got left out. Ernest did not know if they married in England or Canada. Ann McKinney later found a marriage of William Sargeson to Ann Hall 30 January 1826 Brantingham Yorkshire England Source Batch # moo7882 source call # 0990938 type film on the Church of Latter Day Saints site. Ann McKinney also found the same information on Genes Reunited site of which I am a member. It was an extracted record so should be reliable. Apparently Ann's husband died leaving her with 3 children to bring up. William Sargeson had a sister Ann who married John Hall. John Hall had 100 acres of land next his father George. In 1839 George Chamberlain young son of William and Sarah ( 9 years old ) was visiting his Aunt Nancy ( as Ann was often referred to ) and his uncle John Gamblin accidently fell a tree on him and he died. In Greg's notes he has George who died in 1839 as being born in 1837 but in Ernest story has him as dying 10 years after his sister Ann who died in 1829.

(3) MARGARET J. JOHNSTON after 1924. She was born in 1870. She died in 1957.

Notes for Aaron Winsor Gamblin:

Family records indicate Aaron Gamblin was married to Margaret J. Johnston (1870 - 1957). However, NB Provincial Marriage Archieves show prior marriages as shown above: First in 1894 to the 34 year old Sarah Stanley [1860 - 1910], and second in 1914 to the 36 year old Margaret Emily Ugler[1878 - Bef. 1921] producing a son Harry Welsey Shalden Gamblin [1915 - 1950]). In the 1921 Census of Canada, Aaron Gamblin is listed as a boarder at Margaret J. Johnston's home. Aaron's death certificate (registered in the NB Archieves as Aaron W. Gamlin - with no b) shows Margaret Johnston was the informant of death and not related to Aaron. His death certificate shows his deceased wife's name as Sadie S. Gamlin (again no b), and his parents Samuel Gamlin (again no b) and Isabel Little. Aaron was buried in Welsford, NB, on Jan 26, 1951, by: N.W. Brenan & Sons Funeral Home. It would appear (this is speculation) after the death of Aaron's second wife Margaret Emily Ugler before the 1921 census, he became a boarder with Margaret J. Johnston (who was widowed at the time with 2 daughters), and formed a relationship that lasted until Aaron's death in 1951.

Aaron was living in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in 1931, when his mother, Isabella, died. Aaron is buried in Welsford Valley Cemetery, Queens County, NB.

Aaron was farm laborer on 17 Apr 1891, and then worked 40 years (starting in 1911 we estimate) after the death of his first wife (Sarah) in 1910, for the Canadian Pacific Railway as a section man according to his death certificate. We have no record of Margaret Ugler dying before 1921, but assume she did (or was out of Aaron's life ) by the time he became a boarder with Margaret J. Johnston.

From census records:

1871 Census: Aaron Gamblin, male, age 5 years, living with his parents brothers and sisters, born in New Brunswick, Wesleyan Methodist, English origin.

1881 Census: Aaron Gamblin, male, age 14 years, living with his parents brothers and sisters, born in New Brunswick, Wesleyan Methodist, English origin, going to school.

1891 Census: Aaron Winsor Gamblin, male, age 25 years, son living with his parents and brothers and sisters, born in New Brunswick, father born in New Brunswick, mother born in New Brunswick, Free-will Baptist, farm laborer.

1901 Census: Aaron Gamblin, male, white, head, married and living with Sarah Gamblin, born Oct 1870, age 30 years, born in New Brunswick, English origin, Canadian nationality, Baptist, laborer. 1911 Census: Aaron Gamblin, male widowed, age 40, working as a servant for Hannah Bayard and her children in Sunbury and Queens.

1921 Census: Aaron Gamblin, male, age 52, boarder with Margaret J. Johnston (age 48), her daughters Alberta Johnston (age 16) and Helene Johnston (age 11) In Petersville (parish), Queens.
