He married MARGARET MURRAY October 18, 1882, daughter of DAVID MURRAY and ALEXANDRA ROSS. She was born in Highfield, Queens County, and died March 8, 1937 in Canning, Nova Scotia, Canada. Notes for JAMES DUNCAN CAMPBELL GAMBLIN: At the age of 18 he became apprenticed to Mr. Folkins, a carriage builder at Collina Corner, but only remained with him for a short time, coming to Sussex in 1875 where he completed his apprenticeship with J. W. Hornbrook. In 1878 he entered into partnership with John Carson in the carriage building and blacksmith business which they conducted until 1882, when they dissolved. Mr. Gamblin continuing at the old stand. At the formation of the Sussex Fire Department eight years ago (from 1901) he was selected as Chief and held the position to within a few weeks of his death when ill-health forced him to resign. He was a prominent member of the Scarlet Chapter, L. O. A. and also the Royal Arcanum in which he carried an insurance policy of $3,000. In politics he was a Liberal. He was a World War 2 Army Air Corps veteran, having served in North Africa as a fighter aircraft mechanic. He was a member of the New England Telephone Pioneers, the Humane Masonic Lodge in Rochester, and the Warren Chapter Order of Eastern Star of Wolfeboro. He was also a volunteer for the Winter Special Olympics of New Hampshire, and an avid skier holding membership in the Worldwide "Over 70" Ski Club. He was a member of St. Andrew Episcopal Church of Manchester, New Hampshire. Gilbert Fay was cremated and his ashes were scattered on Canon Mountain, New Hampshire, on the Lower Gary ski slope. He is remembered with a marker at the Bayside Cemetery, Lakeport, New Hampshire.
